Greetings to all of the Pirate Nation. It was really nice to see how much this community came together for the Tosha Smith Daniel family in light of the recent tragedy that struck that family. That is a characteristic of this community. All of the family will remain in our thoughts and prayers.
Football is coming off of the bye week and they are headed to Valley Mills this Friday. This is a rivalry that goes back many a moon. Come out and support the Pirates on the start of district play. Come early and take in the volleyball game as the Lady Pirates are in the thick of their district play. Game time for volleyball is 4:30 and kick-off is at 7:30. You know the saying, all together now, "Come early, stay late and always be loud." The first six weeks came to an end and this starts off our 1st Annual GPA Championship. All varsity sports are involved as long as there are at least 5 members to a team. We will take the overall GPA for each team and at the end of the year crown one winner for GPA Champion.
A reminder that on Monday October 14th there will be no school. Wednesday October 16 is the day of the Junior High District Cross Country meet and it will be held at the HOT complex in Waco. Also on that day is the PSAT test and it will be administered to 9th - 11th graders on campus. Thursday, October 17th is the Varsity and JV District meet and it will also be held at the HOT complex. Later on this month, Friday, October 25th, at the half time of the Crawford/Deleon game we will recognize the 2019 State 2A Softball Champions.
I want you to encourage your children who are students at Crawford High School to make sure they are always doing the right thing. We want and expect a standard of excellence in all things we do. There have been too many who have come before us who have set this standard for us to let it slip in the least bit. This excellence of standard is a measurement of all things no matter how small. I am a firm believer that if you take care of the little things the big things in life will take care of themselves.
I will leave you with this. " You build trust with others each time you choose integrity over image, truth over convenience, or honor over personal gain." John C. Maxwell

We have been notified that the railroad tracks located on 4th and 5th streets are going to be under repair and closed for periods of time next week. On Thursday, October 10, 4th street railroad crossing (football field road) will be closed starting at 8 am and will be closed all day. They hope to have it back up by end of school day if all goes well. The 5th street railroad crossing (Hwy 185) will also be closed starting at 8 am on Thursday and be closed all day as well as on Friday October 11. The railroad crossing at 5th street will be closed 2 days, Oct.10th and 11th.
You will need to plan accordingly. Please be aware that TxDOT has a Bridge Replacement Project that is starting on Monday,Oct. 7th, and will continue for 4 -5 months. A map is linked below that shows the closed road areas due to that project. Please keep that in mind as you plan your routes to school with the railroad crossing work also ongoing! https://5il.co/alym
