Crawford ISD would like to thank Tally and Carrie Lou Barnes for supporting our students for so many years! Mrs. Barnes was an Elementary teacher in the district for 27 years. Many of us have heard of the Blake Barnes Outstanding Citizenship Award but most don't know the story behind the award or how two grieving parents turned a loss into a yearly tribute to their son. Blake Barnes graduated from Crawford in 1982 and was the first male receipient of what was then known as the Outstanding Citizenship Award. Blake was known by all as a compassionate, friendly, helpful person. You could find him at football games helping the elderly up into the bleachers or in various other settings, helping those who needed help. After he passed away from cancer in 1994, the district renamed the Outstanding Citizenship Award to the Blake Barnes Outstanding Citizenship Award to pay honor to the Crawford graduate. After several years, Blake's parents started giving money each year to the two recipients of this award. The award is not dependent upon college enrollment. It is simply an award to recognize our Pirate and Lady Pirate who the staff feel are the best outstanding citizens in the graduating class. The Barnes, like many other loyal Crawford ISD supporters in the community, are the backbone behind the success and traditions of our district. Crawford ISD would like the thank the Barnes for their years of service supporting our Pirates & Lady Pirates!

Crawford ISD would like to welcome Shannon Jacobs to our staff! Mrs. Jacobs will be teaching 6th grade Science and World Contemporary studies. This will be her 7th year in education. She is from China Spring and graduated from Texas Tech. Her and her husband, Brock, have been married for four years and have a 6 month old daughter named Josie. The Jacobs love spending time with family, going on walks, and cheering on the Crawford Pirates! We are very excited to be welcoming another Jacobs into our Crawford ISD family!
