Crawford ISD would like to thank Tally and Carrie Lou Barnes for supporting our students for so many years! Mrs. Barnes was an Elementary teacher in the district for 27 years. Many of us have heard of the Blake Barnes Outstanding Citizenship Award but most don't know the story behind the award or how two grieving parents turned a loss into a yearly tribute to their son. Blake Barnes graduated from Crawford in 1982 and was the first male receipient of what was then known as the Outstanding Citizenship Award. Blake was known by all as a compassionate, friendly, helpful person. You could find him at football games helping the elderly up into the bleachers or in various other settings, helping those who needed help. After he passed away from cancer in 1994, the district renamed the Outstanding Citizenship Award to the Blake Barnes Outstanding Citizenship Award to pay honor to the Crawford graduate. After several years, Blake's parents started giving money each year to the two recipients of this award. The award is not dependent upon college enrollment. It is simply an award to recognize our Pirate and Lady Pirate who the staff feel are the best outstanding citizens in the graduating class. The Barnes, like many other loyal Crawford ISD supporters in the community, are the backbone behind the success and traditions of our district. Crawford ISD would like the thank the Barnes for their years of service supporting our Pirates & Lady Pirates!

Crawford ISD would like to welcome Shannon Jacobs to our staff! Mrs. Jacobs will be teaching 6th grade Science and World Contemporary studies. This will be her 7th year in education. She is from China Spring and graduated from Texas Tech. Her and her husband, Brock, have been married for four years and have a 6 month old daughter named Josie. The Jacobs love spending time with family, going on walks, and cheering on the Crawford Pirates! We are very excited to be welcoming another Jacobs into our Crawford ISD family!

Crawford ISD is proud to introduce Brittney Maness as our new 2nd grade teacher! She worked in the district as an aide last year but will be graduating from Texas Tech in August so we have moved her into the classroom as a teacher. Mrs. Maness has worked with children of all ages, from pre-k to 5th graders, for over 10 years. She has worked as an aide for three years while finishing her degree. She grew up in Crawford and attended Crawford ISD from K-12th grade. She graduated from high school in 2003. She loves Jesus, spending time with her family, sports, camping, and anything outdoors! She is married to David, a Waco Firefighter; and they have two boys; Denver is 12, and Denton is 6. Mrs. Maness said, "We love Crawford, and we're so thankful to be a part of this town and school! I hope to have a positive impact on every student I meet". Please help us in welcoming her into our staff in her new role!

Crawford ISD would like to welcome Chyla Mabry to the district! Mrs. Mabry will be teaching Agriculture and Home Ec/Family & Consumer Science classes. She went to high school in Frisco and majored in Agriculture Leadership at Texas A&M. Her and her husband have two boys, Landry will be a 6th grader and Kenton will be in 3rd grade. The Mabry's like to show pigs, play baseball, and watch Aggie Football in the fall! We are very excited to have Mrs. Mabry on staff and want to welcome her to the Crawford ISD family!

Crawford ISD would like to thank Chris Wilkins for her many years of dedicated service to our students and staff. She is retiring after 41 years in education, 38 of those years were spent here in Crawford. The district was so small when she arrived in 1983, that the elementary library was a third of a classroom. There have been so many changes over the years as we have grown. With the help of the best library assistants anywhere, she has created 4 completely new libraries over the years, along with expanding and recombining libraries as needed. Mrs. Wilkins has always said that she had the best job in the district. She also said, "Working with all of our students, K-12, has been a joy. Being Crawford's District Librarian has been a blessing filled with friendships, camaraderie, and wonderful memories". We want to wish her a very blessed retirement!
