Crawford ISD would like to welcome Courtney Bryson to our Pirate Family! Mrs. Bryson will be teaching High School English. She has been married almost 18 years to her college sweetheart, David. They have 4 kids: Mikala, 16, Ryli, 11, Chloe, 6, and Kolbi, 1-1/2. This will be her 3rd year as a teacher. Prior to that she was a 911 dispatcher and a military wife. During her husband’s time in the military they lived in North Carolina, Germany, and Texas. After retiring from the military, her husband became a train engineer for BNSF Railroad. If they aren’t watching their children play a multitude of sports or at a livestock show, she spends her time raising show pigs or reading a good book. She is excited to start this new chapter as a Crawford Pirate and is looking forward to meeting everyone!
Crawford ISD would like to welcome Dawn Leigh-Bottlinger to our Pirate Staff! She will be teaching 6th grade. Here is a note from her introducing herself: This will be my ninth year of teaching. Prior to teaching I was an accountant. I have two sons, Trevor and Brenden, and two amazing guys that I have gotten to help raise, Landon and Rylan. My parents live in Crawford, and my twin brother's family is in Clifton. My husband and I moved back to Waco this spring. Rusty is a Maintenance Supervisor for an apartment management company. When my son, Trevor, was enrolled at Crawford Elementary I served on the PTO board and Little League Board. I am very excited to be teaching sixth grade Science and Contemporary World Studies.

Crawford ISD would like to welcome Tiffany Harrison to our Pirate Family! Help us welcome her to Crawford! She will be teaching Special Education at the seconday campus. Here is Mrs. Harrison's introduction: My name is Tiffany Harrison and this will be my 17th year teaching. I have taught a little bit of everything...ranging from 3rd grade self-contained & reading, a little 4th & 5th grade science, all the way to up to 6th-8th grade ELA, with a couple of years of PE, Special Education, and ESL thrown in the mix. I believe variety is the spice of life, and I’m always up for learning something new! I knew from the time I was in 2nd grade that I wanted to be a teacher, then in 5th grade I decided I wanted to be an interior designer. I’m one of the lucky ones because I get to pursue both of my passions! I went to school at SFA and Texas A&M-Commerce where I majored in Interior Design and Business. I received my alternative teaching certification through iTeachTexas. My husband, Stephen, owns and operates a residential construction business that we consider to be a family affair. We have 3 sons that we are so proud of! Bryce just graduated high school, Brock will be a freshman, and Bennett will be in 4th grade. When I’m not at school, you’ll find me hanging out with my family at home or the lake, attending church, watching my boys at their various sporting events, working on design projects, or reading a good book. We are excited to be part of the Pirate family!
Help us welcome Niki Mitchell to our Pirate family!! Mrs. Mitchell will be one of our 6th grade teachers. She has lived in Crawford for a little over three years. She grew up just south of Houston, in Pearland, TX. She has her Bachelors of Arts from the University of Houston and her Masters in Education from the University of Texas. This will be her 8th year of teaching. She has two children that both attend Crawford High School. Kendall will be a sophomore, and Jacob will be a junior. She attends Crawford Methodist Church and enjoys reading, camping, traveling, and spending time with her family, dogs, and goats!

My husband is a retired teacher, and both our daughters are teachers. Our oldest teaches Elementary Art and our youngest teaches ELAR and coaches. We are diehard Aggie fans since both of our daughters went to school in College Station along with quite a bit of our finances. We have plenty of T-shirts and memorabilia to show for it too! GIG”EM! We are presently blessed with one granddaughter, Briley, that we try to thoroughly spoil when we can. I love spending time with my family, reading when I have the time, crossword puzzles, and watching any Aggie sporting event.

Greetings and salutation to all of the Crawford Pirates. I trust you are all fine and healthy. Monday night the board of trustees met and in the open forum session of the meeting the Crawford graduation for the class of 2020 was discussed. What was determined was the graduation of this year would take on the format of a virtual graduation. It would be streamed on the day of on the school's website. The decision to use this format was based on the current rules of social distancing. If those rules change and allow greater flexibility then the discussion was the graduation would take on the normal format in the gym. So we will play the waiting game on that but begin the process of virtual graduation. Prom was also part of the discussion and the district is going to work in conjunction with the junior class parents and have a prom for our students. This obviously will not happen until social distancing rules relax greatly but know we are in the process of trying to formulate a prom. Seniors are asked to fill out the McGregor Mirror Bio form and send them to Mr. Pritchett at email@example.com. You do not have to put the information on the form itself. You may submit a word document with the necessary information that is being requested. I will need to submit these by the beginning of May so the quicker you can submit the better. Thank you in advance. This past week we began a tribute to each one of our seniors via social media. Please check them out on the school website, facebook and twitter and leave them a comment or two.

I would like to address absences with all of you. Right now we are experiencing students out sick quite a bit. I am attaching to this informative letter how we address absences at school. It will address what to do when a student is out sick, excessive absences, 90% rule etc. Let me tell you that in dealing with absences there sometimes seems to be a mystery on how things are addressed. First and foremost, if a child is running a fever keep them home until they are fever free for 24 hours. If they are experiencing other symptoms, like throwing up and other issues, keep them home until they are symptom free. If you take them to a doctor please get documentation that you took them and turn that in when they return. A phone call is always appreciated from a parent when a student is going to be out. If they are going to be out for an extended time please let us know. With all of that being said, the state of Texas, does have some rules and regulations in regards to absences. The most obvious law I have to address as the principal is the 90% rule of attendance. A student has to be in attendance 90% of the time. For simplicity that usually means a student can not have no more than 18 absences in a school year. That seems like a great deal of absences but they can add up pretty quick. For those students who have accrued double digit absences as of this date, I will be sending out a letter. If you receive a letter please do not hesitate to contact me so we can address any issues. For those students who fall into the category of being over the 90% attendance rate threshold I will address that with the student and the parent and take ALL things into consideration. Again if you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact me. https://5il.co/cqs6
