The counselors will be working with current freshmen March 21-23 to select courses for their sophomore year. Most students will have room for 2 electives classes which can be chosen from the 10th grade elective list. High School Fire Alarms went off this morning and students were quickly evacuated from the building. It was soon determined that there was a leak in the roof that shorted out a fire alarm. We are glad to know that alarms and sprinklers work and that students and staff can evacuate in such a fast and orderly fashion! We are now accepting donations for our VB State Championship Monument! We need to raise $2400. Checks can be written to the State Championship Monument Fund and delivered to Coach Coker, the HS office, or directly to the Crawford Bank. Thank you so much for supporting us in this. Donations will be accepted until the end of January or as soon as we have the money raised.
The MCC Foundation Scholarship deadline is January 15. This is a scholarship we recommend all students apply for, even if the student is not planning on attending MCC. It’s one application for over 300 scholarships. Students can always decline the scholarship offer at a later date, but they cannot apply after the deadline. http://www.mclennan.edu/foundation/scholarships A student must have an MCC ID number and log in to apply, if a student is a Dual Credit student their ID number should work just fine. The application will take about an hour max and does include a short answer question, request for two references, and some FAFSA/income information.

8th Grade Parents: The information portion of the HB 5 parent meetings that will be held on Nov. 29th will take about 30 minutes. We will then work with each family to choose classes for their child's 9th grade year. We are hoping the 3 different meeting times help with the wait as the counselors work with each family. We will try to allow parents who have other obligations to meet with the counselors first. We believe it will take about 7 minutes per family and there will be two counselors present.
Attention 8th grade parents: There will be a HB5 information meeting on Wednesday, November 29. There are 3 different meeting times available for your convenience. The meeting times are 8:15 am, 5:30 pm, and 7:00 pm in the high school library. Information regarding high school graduation programs, endorsements, and course requirements for HB5 will be discussed. Following the information meeting, students and parents will meet with one of the counselors to select courses for the student's 9th grade year. Lady Pirate Volleyball spent some time with the Norcross' and Villa's this morning as they presented them with the signed game balls from the Pink Out game and with the money they raised during Pink Out! The Crawford Volleyball Team hosted a successful Pink Out night last Tuesday! Pirate Coaches' Wives will be passing the bucket at halftime of Friday night's football game to raise money for Weldon Bleything, a graduate of Crawford High School, who is battling cancer. The Booster Club will also be selling "Once a Pirate...Always a Pirate" t-shirts to raise money for Weldon. Make plans now to support Weldon and his family as they are going through this battle.
This last Friday night at the Valley Mills/ Hico football game, both communities participated in a "Pass the Bucket" for Weldon Bleything, a graduate of Crawford High School, who is fighting cancer. Shelby Fisk, a Valley Mills Senior, organized the bucket drive and both communities gave a total of $804.52. This is simply outstanding and both communities are to be commended for their efforts. The Crawford Pirate family is so very appreciative of this! Thank you from the bottom of our hearts!
Crawford High School will host an informational meeting about the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (or the FAFSA) for seniors and their parents. Rolando Rodriguez with the Waco Foundation will present the information. The meeting for senior parents will be held at Crawford High School on Wednesday, November 8 at 5:30 pm. Mr. Rodriguez will also meet with the seniors during the school day at 9:30 am.

Parents and students- Mr. Pritchett and the counselors would like to let parents and students know that all schedules that were showing in Parent Portal over the weekend were computer generated. At this point in the process, parts of the schedules were generated based on openings from last year's classes. ALL Hands on Deck! Parent HELP is needed to prepare the Pirate Field Complex for the 2017 Football Season! Saturday, August 12th. Arrive Between 7:30-8:00 am; should be finished before Noon. Bring any of the following: weed eaters, rakes, brooms and dust pans, large trash bags, chainsaws, pole saw, push mower, wasp spray, window cleaner and paper towels for press box cleaning and drinking water. General clean up is needed around the field and stands. There are only a few limbs that need to be removed and possibly one tree to cut down. Art Hunter will have a Hunter Education course on August 19th at the Crawford High School Agriculture classroom from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM. (This class is open to the public). Online Registration for students who are returning to the district will open Thursday, August 10th! The flip flops and slides for the Cheer Fundraiser should arrive the first week in August. Once the girls process the orders we will notify of pickup or delivery. The Crawford Booster Club will have their General Meeting on Monday, July 31st at 6 pm in the High School Library. Election of officers and information on upcoming events will be discussed. All are welcome.
CHS Cheerleaders had a very successful week at camp last week! They won the Big BANANA award that has only been received twice by a Crawford squad since UCA started giving this award and it has been 6 years since the first was received! They also won the Xtreme Routine Small Varsity trophy, 1st place Camp Cheer trophy, got voted best leadership award by the other squads, and spirit sticks and a blue ribbon for sideline cheer! Way to go Lady Pirates!!!
